Today I’d like to welcome author Gigi Kern to take a closer look at her Finding Home series. Gigi has just released Finding Aaron, Book# 1 in the Finding Home Series on Google Play Books for the first time. If all goes well, Finding Love, Book# 2 will be coming soon to Google Play as well. She’s currently writing David’s story in Finding David, which is Book# 3 in her M/M Contemporary Gay Romance series. David is the quiet one in the family. The guy he connects with is anything but.
Disclaimer: Because of Aaron’s cuteness, TJ’s hotness, Ryan’s awesomeness and David being David, please Read Book# 1 Finding Aaron first. How else can you fall under their spell?
At 23, Aaron has aged out of the foster-care system and is now a struggling college student. Between his severe Learning Disabilities, ADHD and past trauma, every day is a struggle.
Three years ago, Aaron’s world got a whole lot brighter thanks to his new best friend, Ryan Foster and his family. The Fosters have taken him into the fold. That is, everyone except for Ryan’s Uncle TJ. When Aaron and TJ meet, sparks fly.
TJ, 31, can’t stand his nephew’s flamboyant, in your face, blue-haired, rainbow loving, best friend. He knows he shouldn’t be so judgmental but after spending five years in Iraq and Afghanistan, his patience is buried under a mountain of guilt and loss.
TJ’s animosity toward Aaron always stresses Aaron out going home to the Foster’s for the holidays but they are the only family he has. He just needs to put up with TJ. He can do that, right?
When something happens that neither one wants to acknowledge, it may just be the catalyst needed for the sparks to explode. What happens when TJ lets himself see the real Aaron? And, can Aaron let TJ past his defenses, when he’s barely holding on.
Finding Love (Book#2) Aaron and TJ…Life is great at the moment for Aaron till his past comes back with a vengeance but this time he isn’t alone. When tragedy strikes can Aaron be the man TJ needs him to be?
Finding David (Book# 3) Coming soon 2017.
Excerpt from Finding Aaron by Gigi Kern
“Mom, they’re here,” David said from the den.
Gabby walked to the door, took a deep breath, and opened it with a huge grin.
Seconds later TJ, who was sitting in the den watching TV with David, noticed Gabby looking concerned and stressed.
David, who was watching his mom and uncle, nudged TJ in the side, and said, “Leave it. She is fine, and he isn’t the problem.”
“I know that look. And you’re wrong. So just leave it.”
“I don’t understand the fascination you all have with this kid. Explain it to me. I really want to know – what’s so special about him?”
David shook his head. “You see him as some punk kid with blue hair, gay as the rainbow flag, and an airhead. Right?” TJ agreed. “Yeah, see, that’s what he wants.”
“I’m confused – you’re agreeing with me.”
David gave TJ a hard stare. “No, I’m not. I said it’s what he wants. It’s how he protects himself. I’m surprised. You of all people, Uncle TJ, should know what it’s like to have to keep parts of yourself secret. To protect yourself.
“You really want to know why he’s so important to us. Then watch him. Don’t judge him – just watch what he does this week. You’ll understand. I promise.”
“Whatever. No promises, kid.”
“Whatever, and don’t call me kid!”
They both laughed and went back to watching TV.
Except TJ was gonna do exactly what David suggested. He watched as Gabby touched Aaron’s face as he walked into the house. The boy, okay, the young man looked drained and haunted.
Gabby looked him over, and gently moved the boy further into the hallway. “Your room is ready, sweetheart. Go take a nap and we’ll come get you when dinner is ready.”
TJ caught Aaron looking at him from the corner of his eye.
“Mrs. Foster, I can stay in Ryan’s room. With all the company and everything. I don’t mind.”
“I know you don’t, sweetheart. But I’ve already made up the room. Plus, Kellie is coming up this week,” Gabby said with a smile.
And what TJ saw next knocked him on his ass. The boy blushed, and god, was it a beautiful sight. His breath caught, he actually forgot how to breathe.
“Thought so,” David whispered beside TJ.
Gabby laughed when she noticed Aaron’s blush. “Come on, you. Before you fall asleep right here in the hallway.”
David asked, “Cat got your tongue, Uncle TJ?”
“Shut it! Besides, it changes nothing.”
“Sure. Keep telling yourself that.”
