I’ve been looking forward to this weekend the way I usually look forward to my favourite authors’ next book release or a week’s holiday. And now my Job Hunt extravaganza weekend is finally here!
The rest of the world would call this the perfect weekend for the sports fans. There’s Football Worldcup in Brazil, there’s Wimbledon, the Tour de France starting in Leeds and Formula 1 fans massing just a couple of miles from my front door. Most people I know look forward to long hours in front of a big screen, BBQs in the garden and copious quantities of Pimms, beer and a good time.
For me, it means four days with only myself and the cat to look after. Eating when I’m hungry, swimming in tea and sleeping when I feel too tired to stare at a computer screen. It’s gonna be a weekend of playlists I’ve forgotten years ago, of buying new music at 4am and looking up odd nuggets of information when I least expect it.
Most of all, though, it’s gonna be Jack & Gareth and food and London as I edit my way through the final copy of Job Hunt. After that, it’s all on me. I can then sit back and enjoy a glass of red, content that I’ve finished the book. Or I can gather my courage, stop procrastinating and submit the thing.
Next week, there’ll be choices. Right now, I’m just gonna have fun!
