Writing a book can be a solitary pursuit – at least until the story is ready to be put into the hands of beta readers, editors, and proofreaders. This was most definitely the case with A Box of Wishes – because the story escaped me over and over, and it took me three attempts to actually get it done and out. Sticking with Ben & Ryan’s story until it was done felt very lonely at times – and I’m beyond thankful for my beta crew, and the wonderful Sue Meadows from No Stone Unturned Editing Services.
Another big shout out goes to Covers by Jo. Ryan has graced the project board above my desk for three whole years! And I adore it so much, I just couldn’t give up on his story. (I’ve switched out Ryan for Alastair now, and it’s very strange not to have him there.)
What’s never a solitary effort is launching a book! It can involve A LOT of people. Especially this year, when we were caught by Covid and launching a book while trying to catch up with the work that had piled up while I wasn’t in a fit state to tackle it.
Without the help of the Publication Pixie and Gay Book Promotions I wouldn’t have got anywhere! Between them, they’ve recruited readers, reviewers and book bloggers to help spread the word about Ryan and Ben.
And here’s a shout out to all of them!

It takes a village to raise a child, right? Our books are very much like children to most authors, and without our beta readers, editors, marketing specialists, bloggers, readers, and reviewers they might not ever leave the house.
Thank you so much!
