Yay, snippeteers! I hope you’re well and keeping busy. I’ve missed last week… too much going on… but I’m finally caught up on my reading! I’ve also switched WiP. Both Power of Zero stories need plot snarls untangling and I don’t have the brain space for that right now.
But since it would be nice to get at least some piece of WiP off that towering stack, I’m now working on Leap of Faith, a friends-to-lovers story that’s been sitting around half-done for far too long. So I’ll be posting snippets from that over the next few weeks, while I work my way toward typing THE END under it. Expect the usual: explosions, daring rescues, nefarious plots and two hot guys who spent four years dancing around each other.
Here is how it starts. And yes, I know, I’ve gone over my six sentences. Apologies for that – but I have a missed week to make up for! 😉
From Leap of Faith:
“This isn’t a suicide watch. It’s not.” Church bells proclaimed the hour of midnight. He’d doused the lights and drawn the blinds, and as he sat cross-legged on his bed and leaned against a stack of cushions, Joel repeated the words like a prayer that someone somewhere might hear. “This isn’t a suicide watch.”
Kieran had finally succumbed to sleep with the help of the bottle of Jack Joel had bought earlier that day. Joel counted it a small victory. He wasn’t in favor of solving problems with alcohol, but they’d tried everything short of sleeping pills or a knockout punch. After a week of little rest and far too many nightmares, Kieran Ross’s cheeks were gaunt. The dark tan, the foundation of his exotic good looks, had dulled to a shade of gray that proclaimed exhaustion, and Kieran’s eyes were circled by smudges dark enough to make strangers think he’d lost a fight.
