A happy Saturday, Snippeteers! And thanks for all the great comments on the last couple weeks’ snips. I’m thinking that my dystopian story, Sound Judgement, is actually going somewhere. I started out having a bit of a thing (and feeling sorry) for Ian. Now Patrick, whom you haven’t met yet, is coming along in leaps and bounds. He has a voice of his own and I’ll introduce him properly in due course.
I was really struggling to find the right snip for today, but I think I’ll settle for Ian’s impression of Patrick, who has the desk next to his, and has just been made Ian’s permanent work partner. Have fun… (And apologies for going just a bit over the six.)
From Sound Judgement
Iad had lost his breath the first time Patrick tied his auburn curls back into a ponytail and razor-sharp cheekbones dominated the newly sleek look. Cheekbones, and the longest lashes Ian had ever seen on a man, when he’d never noticed either while Patrick wore his hair loose. All of a sudden the kid – he was twenty-eight to Ian’s thirty-four and there were days Ian felt three times his age – had looked far too enticing.
And Ian didn’t cheat.
He and Tom had been together for almost eighteen months and he’d never once strayed. Tom had, plenty of times. Apparently, he couldn’t go four days without a warm body in his bed, so whenever Ian was sent out Tom went on the prowl. They’d had a few fights about it in the beginning, then Ian had more or less accepted Tom’s wandering ways and closed his eyes to the behaviour however much it stung when Tom put on that stupid song.
If you’re new to the snips circuit or have found me by accident…Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook group where GLTBQ writers post snippets of their work every Saturday. There are snips from every genre, kind of pairing and heat level from sweet to steamy.
